Three To Tech Trek

The AAUW-CA Tech Trek program sends Seventh Grade girls to a week long, live on campus, science and math camp. The Torrance Branch has been awarding scholarships to TUSD girls since 1999.

Nominations were accepted from Seventh Grade math and science teachers in February.  Three girls won and will be attending the Tech Trek program.  They are Camryn U., Jin Y., and Ninabella G.

Jin and Ninabella will be attending camp at UC Santa Barbara and Camryn will be attending camp at UC San Diego.  Subjects that they will be studying will be confirmed on June 3rd.

“I won’t know what I am studying until June 3rd, but I am hoping it will be Forensic Science and/or Marine Biology,” said Ninabella.

May 7th, the girls were invited to the TUSD School Board Meeting and received certificates from the district, AAUW, and other offices.

Students will go to the camp over the summer and on Tuesday, October 16th at the Toyota Automobile Museum, all the “campers” will give a short presentation on one of their Tech Trek experiences.

Congratulations to Camryn, Jin, and Ninabella. We look forward to hearing all about your Tech Trek experience.
